Report: Carsley to stay on as Brum boss

Birmingham City chiefs have reportedly decided to give caretaker boss Lee Carsley six weeks to take charge of the side before making a permanent appointment.

The Blues have been on the lookout for a new manager since sacking Harry Redknapp last week on the back of a disastrous run of early-season results.

Carsley will remain in the St Andrew's hotseat until November, according to The Sun, which the club's owners hope will be enough time to get City firmly back on track.

Aitor Karanka is said to be the man Birmingham want to succeed Redknapp, while ex-Brum coach Steve Cotterill is also understood to have made his interest in the vacant position known.

Carsley was recently appointed as part of England Under-21s boss Aidy Boothroyd's backroom staff.
