Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton reportedly banned his players from posing with the Carling Cup in this season’s team photo.
The Blues won the trophy last season, but 10 players from that squad have since left the club after they were relegated to the Championship.
"It's a new season," Hughton said. "Generally, most clubs will do things the way they see it at the time. On the day, we felt it was just a fresh start.
"That's not taking out of the equation that it is a wonderful achievement for the club. We'll always look back on that and other achievements as they are part of a club's history."
Birmingham travel to Manchester City tonight (Wednesday) to continue this season’s Carling Cup campaign.
