Philipp Lahm dismisses Mario Gotze rumours

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm admits that he is confused by the rumours linking Mario Gotze with a move away from the club.

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has admitted to being confused by the speculation surrounding Mario Gotze's future.

Despite playing a key role in Pep Guardiola's side as Bayern cruised to the Bundesliga title last season, Gotze was criticised for his performances in the closing stages of the campaign and he has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena.

However, Lahm believes that his fellow World Cup winner will be staying at the club for the foreseeable future.

"I do not understand the rumours," the skipper told tz. "He is an outstanding footballer and totally integrated with us."

Bayern meet Nottingen in the DFB-Pokal on Sunday before beginning their Bundesliga campaign against Hamburger SV on Friday.
