Team News: Bastian Schweinsteiger named on Bayern Munich bench for Hoffenheim test

World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger returns to the Bayern Munich squad for the first time this season against Hoffenheim.

Bastian Schweinsteiger has been named in the Bayern Munich squad for the first time this season ahead of Saturday's meeting with Hoffenheim.

The midfielder, who has not played since winning the World Cup with Germany in the summer, is fit enough to take up a spot on the bench for the hosts.

Philipp Lahm begins his spell on the sidelines after breaking his ankle in training earlier this week.

Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Mario Gotze all start for Pep Guardiola's side, while Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski are set to continue their partnership in attack.

Kevin Volland is included in the Hoffenheim side alongside Anthony Modeste and Roberto Firmino, but Hungarian forward Adam Szalai is forced to settle for a place on the bench.

Bayern Munich: Neuer, Alonso, Benatia, Rafinha, Boateng, Bernat, Ribery, Lewandowski, Robben, Gotze, Muller

Hoffenheim: Baumann, Beck, Strobl, Bicakcic, Süle, Schwegler, Elyounoussi, Rudy, Firmino, Modeste, Volland
