The Bundesliga champions are without a win in four matches.

Beleaguered Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac says his side’s form is not as bad as it seems.

The reigning Bundesliga champions won their first seven games in all competitions but are winless in four and currently sit seventh in the league.

Kovac and his players have come under heavy criticism in the German media, with reports linking former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to the club.

That led senior officials Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Uli Hoeness and Hasan Salihamidzic to hold an impromptu press conference condemning the media for their coverage of the club.

Kovac also faced the press ahead of his side’s visit to Wolfsburg and is looking on the bright side.

He said: “Not everything is as grim as it is presented and I also said after our good start this season that not everything was rosy.

“Changing everything now would just be doing it for the sake of change and that never works.

“You have to stick to your plan. Throwing everything overboard and inventing something on the spot does not make sense. You will never get that from me.

“We cannot be negative, we want to be positive.”

Bayern, who have no injuries, are four points off leaders Borussia Dortmund and Kovac accepts they need to improve.

“We need to fix some things. We have made too many mistakes that have led to goals. We have to reduce them and we also have to improve our finish,” Kovac said.

“Wolfsburg are better than in the past two seasons. It will be a hard game for us.”

While the media are calling it a crisis at the Allianz Arena, Wolfsburg coach Bruno Labbadia is not allowing himself to be fooled.

He told the club’s official website: “We go into the game with real excitement and need to produce our best performance in order to match Bayern.

“If we do that, it should be a really interesting contest from our point of view.

“Bayern’s current situation is certainly unusual. If you look at their games, though, you can tell that extraordinary things have happened in those matches.

“We mustn’t let ourselves be distracted – Bayern are too good a team. Having said that, we’ve seen that they’re beatable.”
