New Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has vowed to bring instant success to the club.
Sammer left his role as the technical director of the German Football Association (DFB) to join Bayern and expects to have an immediate impact.
"We want to be, must be and will be successful straight away," Sammer said.
"Self-pity or vanity cannot play a role. With the first team we don't have any time at all."
Sammer thinks his arrival heralds a fresh start for the club after a season of heartbreak on both domestic and continental fronts.
"It wasn't a bad season, but it lacked a certain something. However, we need the sense of a fresh start. It won't be particularly easy for the players after what happened last season," he added.
"After all, Bayern aim for the very highest standards, so we have to hit the ground running with the players who are here."
Bayern will be desperate to rebound after finishing second to Borussia Dortmund in both the league and domestic cup, plus losing to Chelsea on penalties in the Champions League final.
