Bayern Munich legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hails Manuel Neuer as the greatest goalkeeper of all time and backs the 34-year-old to keep on improving.

Bayern Munich legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes that Manuel Neuer is the greatest goalkeeper to ever play the game.

Neuer, now 34 years of age, continues to perform at the top level for club and country and has enjoyed an incredible career for Bayern and Germany over the past decade.

The former Schalke shot-stopper has won eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern as well as a host of individual accolades, and Rummenigge has tipped Neuer to keep on improving as he approaches the latter stages of his career.

Speaking to the official Bundesliga website, Rummenigge said: "Manuel Neuer is 34 now, and he's just getting better and better. He's like a red wine that matures each year.

"He anticipates pretty much every shot, wherever it comes from, and makes the save. We've seen that in the last couple of weeks in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League.

"He's the best goalkeeper in the world, I think he's even the best goalkeeper of all time. We've always had good goalkeepers in Germany, at Bayern, when you talk about Sepp Maier or Oliver Kahn, but I think Manuel Neuer has taken goalkeeping to a new level, and we're really happy that he's lining up between the sticks for us."

Neuer has played every single minute of Bundesliga football for Bayern this term, but the veteran shipped three goals against RB Leipzig in a thrilling 3-3 draw on Saturday evening.
