Mehdi Benatia likens Philipp Lahm to Francesco Totti

Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia has likened Philipp Lahm to his ex-Roma teammate Francesco Totti.

The 38-year-old Totti has spent his entire career in Rome, and Benatia, who left the Serie A side for the Bundesliga champions in the summer, sees similarities between the Italian and the German World Cup winner.

"Lahm reminds me of Totti," he told Corriere dello Sport. "They are always at the same club, always a top-level performer, and always modest. They are real champions.

"At Bayern, I've found the highest level of professionalism. Players like Lahm, [Mario] Gotze, [David] Alaba and [Arjen] Robben are incredibly strong."

Bayern travel to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League this evening.
