Guardiola cautious over Champions League defence

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that any early prediction of success in the Champions League this season are premature.

The Bavarian giants are bidding to become the first club to successfully retain the Champions League this season, after a Bayern side led by Jupp Heynckes swept all before them in a treble-winning campaign last time round.

Guardiola has declared that his players are confident and well-prepared ahead of their Group D opener against CSKA Moscow tomorrow night, but refuses to be drawn on any long-term predictions.

He told reporters at his pre-match press conference: "It's to early to talk about defending the title.

"We know that they're one of the best teams in the world. We aren't nervous, however.

"I'm confident with how we played in the recent games. I think we are well prepared for the match."

Bayern are unbeaten in five Bundesliga matches so far this season, with their latest success coming in a 2-0 win over Hannover last weekend.
