Bayer Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt has revealed his disappointment after his team threw away a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 at Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos sent the visitors into the lead at Camp Nou, but two goals in the final 10 minutes saw the hosts turn the game on its head.
Javier Hernandez had an excellent chance to make it 2-0 to Bayer early in the second period, however, and Schmidt has bemoaned his team's inability to score what could have been a decisive second goal.
"We're sad to have lost in the last few minutes. We were very brave at all times. We were compact in defence and had space to counter-attack," AS quotes Schmidt as saying.
"Barca have the quality they have and nothing happens by chance. We knew one goal wasn't enough. They pressured us a lot and in the end they equalised and went in front before we knew it."
Bayer now sit second in Group E, one point behind the leaders Barcelona.
