Barnsley boss 'to leave in next fortnight'

Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel will reportedly leave his role before the club takes on Swansea City on October 19.

The German, who managed Hannover before coming to England, has endured a poor start to the 2019-20 season at Barnsley.

Saturday's 5-1 defeat at the hands of Preston North End saw Barnsley's record this season extend to just one win from 11 Championship games.

With the club sitting 23rd in the Championship, Sky Sports News claim that Stendel is expected to be relieved of his position by the time Barnsley meet Swansea after the international break.

The 45-year-old took over in 2018 and immediately guided Barnsley back into the second tier of English football, finishing in second place in League One on 91 points.

However, Stendel's last victory came on the opening day of the season - a 1-0 win over Fulham.
