Barcelona have reportedly inserted a release clause of £84m in the contract of veteran defender Dani Alves.
The right-back, who is 38 years of age, has makes a return five-and-a-half years after ending his eight-year trophy-laden spell at Camp Nou.
Barcelona, who continue to struggle financially, have only handed Alves a short-term deal without the option of an automatic 12-month extension.
Nevertheless, according to RAC1, club officials have decided that it was necessary to insert a big release clause in his contract.
Alves has spent the last few months as a free agent, the attack-minded defender only returning to his former club after the arrival of ex-teammate Xavi as manager.
The Brazilian is also unable to make a competitive appearance until the turn of the year.
