Johan Cruyff dismisses Joan Laporta rumours

Johan Cruyff dismisses rumours that Joan Laporta will bring Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo to Barcelona if he is re-elected president of the club.

Former Barcelona forward Johan Cruyff has dismissed rumours that Joan Laporta will bring Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo to the Camp Nou, if he is re-elected as the club's new president.

Laporta was Barca's president from 2003 to 2010 and has allegedly met with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a possible move from Real Madrid.

The former Barcelona president is reportedly running for the top job again, with the view to bring the two Portuguese men with him, but the rumour has been denied by Cruyff, saying that it 'lacks substance'.

"I don't think there's much to them, they're just idle comments," the Dutchman said, according to Goal.com.

"When you talk about something you know nothing about, you end up kicking up a storm for no reason.

"Sport is a game which holds many possibilities, but in this case they are unlikely to be feasible. I don't imagine that Laporta would bring in Mou and Cristiano."

Current club president Josep Maria Bartomeu announced that he will stand for the position in 2016 after taking over from Sandro Rosell, who stepped down due to controversy about Neymar's transfer fee earlier this year.
