Celtic to rival Barcelona for Gideon Mensah?

Celtic are reportedly preparing to battle Barcelona for the signature of Red Bull Salzburg defender Gideon Mensah.

The 21-year-old, who spent the second half of the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Sturm Graz, has a contract with Salzburg until the summer of 2024.

Barca have recently been credited with an interest in the Ghana Under-23 international - the Spanish champions reportedly viewing the left-back as a potential signing for their B side.

However, according to Ghana Soccernet, Celtic have submitted an offer for Mensah, with the Hoops hopeful of securing a loan deal for the defender who could potentially replace Kieran Tierney.

Neil Lennon's side currently lead the way in the Scottish Premiership with nine points from three matches ahead of this weekend's Old Firm derby away to Rangers.
