Barcelona are reportedly preparing to reopen contract talks with Sergi Roberto in the hope of signing the Spaniard to fresh terms in the near future.
The 29-year-old has made 12 appearances for the Catalan giants during the 2021-22 campaign, contributing two goals and one assist in the process.
Roberto has been on the sidelines since the end of November, though, having been forced to undergo an operation on his injured thigh.
The midfielder's current deal at Camp Nou is due to expire this summer, and a number of clubs have been credited with an interest in his services.
However, according to Marca, Barcelona are still hoping to keep hold of the Spain international and will meet with his agent 'in the coming days' to reopen contract discussions.
The report claims that the Catalan outfit want to offer Roberto a two-year extension, but he will have to accept a significant reduction in his salary to remain at the club.
The Spaniard has made 316 appearances for Barcelona since debuting for the first team in 2010.
