Agent: Messi, PSG link an "honour"

The father of Barcelona star Lionel Messi has revealed that it is an "honour" for his son to be linked with a switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

Speculation is rife that the big-spending Ligue 1 outfit may be on the verge of making a bid for the Argentine in an attempt to lure the four-time Ballon d'Or winner to the French capital.

However, Jorge Messi - also his son's agent - claims that the reports are wide of the mark and insists that the 26-year-old is focused on remaining at Camp Nou for the duration of his existing deal, which expires in 2018.

He told L'Equipe: "I have heard about those rumours and I don't know where it came from. There is nothing so far. Lionel is a Barcelona player, where he is under contract for several years.

"It is an honour to know PSG could think about him. But I repeat it is not a subject we want to think about now.

"The only reality is his contract with Barca. I don't know what we are talking about when people talk about a transfer here or there. We don't want to think about anything, neither Paris nor any other team."

Messi, who has recently returned to fitness following a two-month layoff, has scored eight times in 13 Liga appearances for the Blaugrana this term.
