Ernesto Valverde pleased with Barcelona debutants

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde hails the performances of summer arrivals Arthur, Clement Lenglet and Malcom in Saturday's pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has paid tribute to the performances of summer arrivals Arthur, Clement Lenglet and Malcom in Saturday's pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur.

Arthur and Lenglet both started the clash, while Malcom appeared as a second-half substitute as the Catalan outfit recorded a 5-3 win on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

Valverde has said that all three new signings "played really well" in the friendly with Mauricio Pochettino's side.

"The new signings? They all played really well, it was evident that both Lenglet and Arthur have been training with us for a little while," Valverde told reporters.

"We had no doubts about Lenglet because he already played in Spain and we have been working on Arthur settling in but this was very encouraging. We believe Arthur can give us a lot in terms of possession, bringing the ball forward and offering a goal threat."

Barcelona will continue their preparations for the 2018-19 campaign with a clash against Roma on Tuesday night.
