Dani Alves calls for Club World Cup focus

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves calls the Club World Cup "a very desirable competition" as the Spanish giants prepare to head to Japan later this month.

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that his team want to "re-enter the history of football" as they prepare to travel to Japan for the Club World Cup later this month.

The Catalan outfit will face Yokohama in their first game of the competition on December 17, just five days after they have played Real Betis in La Liga.

Luis Enrique's side won the tournament last season and Alves has revealed that he is desperate to add another medal to his ever-growing collection.

"We want to re-enter the history of football, that's our challenge. It's a very desirable competition. But, watch out, we have to go game by game so we don't end up like other teams who thought about a final then didn't play it," Alves told TVE.

Barcelona will complete their Champions League Group E campaign with a trip to Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.
