Mallorca vs. Barcelona: Can Marcus Rashford, Joan Garcia make their Blaugrana debuts in La Liga opener?

Have Barca registered Rashford, Garcia for La Liga opener vs. Mallorca?

Barcelona have registered Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford for Saturday's La Liga opener against Mallorca.

The participation of the duo had been in severe doubt, as Barcelona had been unable to register either player due to their financial issues, which continue to cause them problems when it comes to registration.

However, Barcelona have now confirmed their registrations with La Liga ahead of the clash with Mallorca.

Garcia is set to start between the sticks for the Catalan giants, with the Spain international signed from Espanyol as the club's number one goalkeeper, while Rashford will be battling for a spot in the final third of the field.

Rashford is in contention to start through the middle, as Robert Lewandowski is absent with a hamstring problem, but Ferran Torres could ultimately be given the nod from the first whistle.

However, Wojciech Szczensy, Gerard Martin, Marc Bernal and Roony Bardghji have not yet been registered and are therefore not included in the squad for the La Liga opener.

Alongside Lewandowski, Marc-Andre ter Stegen is absent through injury, with the Germany international recently undergoing a back operation.

Jofre Torrents, Pedro Fernandez, Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez will provide cover on Saturday, while Inaki Pena is included amid the speculation surrounding his future.

Barcelona are the reigning La Liga champions, while they also won the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup last season, and the Catalan giants will be chasing more domestic success this term.

Flick confident Barcelona will make a strong start to the season

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick said that he is "very happy" with how his team have performed in training ahead of their opening match of the new campaign.

"I’m very happy with what I’ve seen in training" Flick told reporters. "The team is working hard to improve every day. The players are ready for the game at Son Moix. Winning three titles last year is not the end, it’s the continuation. We’ll give everything again this season.

"The message was clear. No room for complacency. In La Liga, every opponent is tough and we have to give our best. We’ll give everything in every match.”

Barcelona have won 14 of their last 15 matches against Mallorca, remaining unbeaten in the process, with their last loss to the Pirates coming in May 2009.
