Barcelona have revealed that Ronald Araujo is facing a period on the sidelines with the hamstring injury that he picked up while representing Uruguay during the international break.
The centre-back has been an important player for the Catalan giants this season, making nine appearances in all competitions, including seven outings in Spain's top flight.
Araujo will be absent for Barcelona's La Liga game against Valencia on Sunday, though, with the defender unavailable due to the hamstring issue that he suffered against Argentina on October 11.
"Tests undertaken this morning confirmed that first team player, Ronald Araujo, has a right hamstring injury, making him unavailable for selection. The medical team will monitor how his injury evolves," read a statement on Barcelona's website.
Araujo's current deal at Camp Nou is due to expire in June 2023, and the club are believed to be in talks with the South American over a fresh contract.
The defender has made 48 appearances for Barcelona since stepping into the first-team picture.
