Barcelona striker Luis Suarez's record vs. Real Madrid

Luis Suarez's record vs. Real Madrid

Barcelona and Real Madrid face off in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, beginning with Wednesday evening's first leg at Camp Nou.

Madrid are seeking a 20th triumph in the competition, but it is their opponents who hold the upper hand as they have gone all the way a record 30 times, including four seasons in a row.

Luis Suarez scored twice in last term's final as Barca brushed aside Sevilla 5-0 and the Uruguay international added to Los Rojiblancos' woes with a strike in the 6-1 win when the sides met in last week's quarter-final second leg.

Barca could do with their striker on top form this week as they prepare to take on Real for the first of three meetings in a little over three weeks.

Ahead of Wednesday's clash, Sports Mole looks at how Suarez has fared in El Clasico over the past five years.

Madrid supporters will need no reminding of Suarez's impact in the most recent encounter between these sides, as he scored a hat-trick in October's 5-1 demolition at this ground.

That took the 32-year-old's overall record in this fixture to nine goals in 11 outings, having also struck in both of last term's league encounters.

The ex-Ajax ace has yet to score against Madrid in cup competitions, though, firing blanks in both legs of the Supercopa last season, despite playing a full part in both matches.

Suarez also failed to find the net in his only meeting against Los Blancos with another club, finding himself on the end of a 4-0 thrashing in November 2010's Champions League group tie at the Amsterdam ArenA.
