Luis Enrique hails "perfect result"

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique claims that Wednesday's 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final was 'the perfect result'.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has hailed his side following their 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg.

Lionel Messi scored twice for the Catalan outfit in the latter stages, before Neymar added a third in the fourth minute of injury time.

Enrique has also praised his team's defensive effort, with Bayern failing to have a single shot on target.

"This is a perfect result, one that takes us close to a possible final. But we have to wrap it up in the return leg. I'm very satisfied with everything. We knew exactly how to play against a rival of such magnitude," Enrique told UEFA.com.

"I can't remember Bayern having any clear chances to score, apart from [Robert] Lewandowski's in the first half. Pep [Guardiola] was loyal to his style, his philosophy of play, and we tried to do the same. Messi never fails to surprise you, but I'm not just going to remember the works of art he produced.

"The entire team played well, and I can never recall an atmosphere this good at the Camp Nou. I came to Barcelona in 1996 and the fans took to me instantly."

The second leg will take place at the Allianz next Tuesday.
