Emre joins Atletico Madrid

Former Newcastle United midfielder Emre has agreed to join Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.

The Turkish international is out of contract at native club Fernabahce, with whom he has enjoyed a four-year spell since leaving Tyneside.

Emre will sign a two-year deal with the Europa League winners subject to passing a medical later this week.

The 31-year-old has also played for Galatasaray and Inter Milan.
