Barcelona-linked attacker Julian Alvarez would 'seriously consider' Atletico Madrid exit on one condition

Barca-linked Alvarez would 'seriously consider' 2026 transfer on one condition

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid attacker Julian Alvarez next summer.

The 25-year-old is one of the brightest sparks in the attack of the Madrid outfit, alongside recent arrival Nico Gonzalez, who secured a move from Juventus in Italy.

During his maiden season with Atletico Madrid, Alvarez immediately established himself as a key player, scoring 29 goals across 54 competitive appearances.

The 2022 World Cup winner was particularly impressive in the Champions League, finding the net on seven occasions in just 10 games.

Despite his young age, Alvarez has enjoyed a success-laden career already, winning trophies with Manchester City, Argentina and River Plate.

Barcelona-linked Alvarez to leave Atletico Madrid?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Atletico Madrid could be waving goodbye to the talents of Alvarez after the current season.

The report claims that there is a future reality in which the 25-year-old departs the Spanish capital at the conclusion of this term.

Alvarez will 'seriously consider' a move elsewhere should Diego Simeone's side fail to win a major trophy.

It is believed that the Argentine was left frustrated by his side's inability to overcome challenges in crucial moments last season.

Regulars to competing at the top level of the Spanish and European scene, Barcelona are supposedly keen on a 2026 swoop for Alvarez.

How likely are Atletico to win a trophy this season?

Judging off their first three matches of the 2025-26 campaign, Atletico Madrid are miles off the title of serious contenders for major honours.

Back-to-back draws with Elche and Deportivo Alaves followed an opening-weekend defeat at the base of Espanyol, leaving Simeone's troops 16th in La Liga.

Three-time runners-up in the Champions League, Atletico Madrid are always the plucky underdog during the latter stages of UEFA's top-tier club competition.
