Arda Turan 'unconcerned' by Atletico Madrid style

Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan has defended his team's style of play and insisted that it brings success.

The Spanish champions have been criticised for being over-physical in the past, but Turan has said that Diego Simeone's side play to their own strengths.

"Maybe our game isn't pretty but we win," he told AS.

"Sometimes teams playing very well don't win games or trophies. Of course, sometimes we'd like more of the ball.

"But we don't have a Lionel Messi or a Cristiano Ronaldo so we have to be a team and work hard. This is the style that has made us champions."

Atletico won their first La Liga title since 1996 last term, in addition to reaching the final of the Champions League and semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
