Report: Fernando Torres to start on bench against Real Madrid

Fernando Torres will reportedly start on the Atletico Madrid bench for Wednesday's Copa del Rey last-16 first leg against Real Madrid.

It had been reported that the Spaniard would be selected in the XI as he prepares to make his second debut for the capital outfit.

However, despite the reported absence of Mario Mandzukic, Atletico boss Diego Simeone is likely to go with a front two of Raul Jimenez and Antoine Griezmann.

According to Inside Spanish Football, Torres will make his debut, but it will likely come in the second 45 minutes.

Simeone is also said to be considering resting Arda Turan ahead of the weekend La Liga fixture against Celta Vigo.
