Javi Manquillo suffers whiplash

Atletico Madrid right-back Javi Manquillo has been diagnosed with whiplash after a heavy fall in the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday.

The Spaniard picked up the injury in the latter stages of the first period following an aerial challenge with Cristiano Ronaldo, with replays showing that Manquillo landed heavily on his back.

The defender did return to his feet following a period of treatment, but was withdrawn at the interval before being sent to a local hospital.

The results have shown no serious damage, but the 19-year-old is expected to sit out training this week.
