Half-Time Report: Barcelona in command against Atletico Madrid

Barcelona in command against Atletico

Barcelona have taken a 3-2 half-time lead in the second leg of their Copa del Rey quarter-final against Atletico Madrid, which has put them ahead 4-2 on aggregate.

It took the hosts under a minute to level the tie, as Fernando Torres latched on to a long ball forward, before taking a touch past Javier Mascherano and drilling a strike into the far corner.

Barcelona responded well to that setback and eight minutes later Neymar equalised with a composed finish past Jan Oblak after being slipped through by Luis Suarez.

The Brazilian was soon denied a second goal as he raced on to a long ball and slotted home, but the flag was raised for an offside decision.

Atletico were then awarded a penalty after Mascherano tripped Juanfran, but the contact between the players appeared to happen just outside the box.

Raul Garcia took the spot kick and he made no mistake with a confident finish into the bottom corner.

Ivan Rakitic was inches away from another quick response for the visitors, when his strike took a huge deflection and ended up looping over the bar.

However, Barca were able to score from the resulting corner, as Miranda could only turn a header from Sergio Busquets into his own net.

Within three minutes the Blaugrana took the lead for the first time on the night, when a fast break ended with Neymar touching in Jordi Alba's deep cross from close range.

It proved to be the final action of the half, but there was to be more drama off the pitch, as the two teams clashed on their way to the dressing rooms.
