McLeish plotting Gibson loan move

Alex McLeish is keen to add Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson to his Aston Villa squad during the January transfer window, according to The People.

The Villa boss has targeted the Republic of Ireland international following the news that Jermaine Jenas will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury.

United are believed to value Gibson a £5m, a fee that Villa will be unable to pay next month.

However, McLeish will ask Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson whether he can take the 24-year-old on a loan deal until the end of the season.
