Aston Villa sign Jose Angel Crespo

Aston Villa complete the signing of Spanish defender Jose Angel Crespo from Cordoba on a three-year deal.

Jose Angel Crespo has completed his switch to Aston Villa.

Cordoba confirmed yesterday morning that they had agreed a fee - believed to be around £3m - with their Premier League counterparts for the 28-year-old's services.

The player has since undergone a medical and discussed personal terms at Villa Park, where he has signed a three-year contract.

"Jose is a player who has been on our radar for some time and we're really pleased to secure his signature," manager Tim Sherwood told the club's official website.

"He is an experienced player who has played in La Liga and Serie A, two of the strongest leagues in Europe, and from speaking to him I know he can't wait to play for Aston Villa."

Crespo has become Sherwood's seventh signing of the summer following the arrivals of Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards, Mark Bunn, Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Ayew.
