Tim Sherwood: 'Aston Villa made mistake releasing Marc Albrighton'

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood admits that the club made a mistake in releasing Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton from his contract with the Villans.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has admitted that the club made a mistake in letting Marc Albrighton leave the club last summer.

The 25-year-old winger, who has started all four of Leicester City's fixtures this campaign, helped the Foxes avoid relegation last season.

"It is a credit to Marc that he has eventually forced his way into the side on a regular basis," Sherwood told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

"He has taken the knock of being released from the club or being disposed of and bounced back.

"That can happen. If we had a crystal ball we would know differently but unfortunately for Villa it looks like it might not have been the correct decision."

Leicester and Albrighton welcome Sherwood's side to the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
