Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert fined, given touchline ban

Lambert hit with ban

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert will be unable to instruct his team from the sidelines this weekend after being given a one-match touchline ban by the Football Association.

The former Norwich City boss has accepted a charge of improper conduct by the English governing body for his comments towards the match officials following Villa's 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Lambert blasted referee Jonathan Moss for awarding a penalty to the Premier League champions for a hand-ball offence, despite replays showing that the decision was unjustified.

Lambert, who has also been fined £8,000, will be absent from the touchline for Villa's match against Arsenal on Saturday.
