Shay Given reveals ambition to become a goalkeeping coach

Given reveals coaching ambition

Aston Villa's Shay Given has revealed that he is considering becoming a goalkeeping coach when he calls time on his playing career.

The 37-year-old has fallen down the ranks at Villa Park, with manager Paul Lambert opting for Brad Guzan and Jed Steer ahead of the former Irish international.

"I think I would give more to developing goalkeepers than outfield players and probably get more respect from the goalkeeping fraternity," the Birmingham Mail quotes Given as saying.

"But I have the badges to complete and then I'll decide. I definitely want to stay in the game. It is still a massive part of my life and I think I have something to give back."

Given has been a Villa player since 2011 when he joined from Manchester City.
