Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is reportedly expected to be passed fit for this weekend's Premier League match against Manchester United, despite fears over an ankle injury.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is reportedly expected to be fit for this weekend's Premier League encounter against Manchester United.

The 28-year-old emerged as a doubt for the match after suffering an ankle injury in training and there were concerns that the forward had suffered a similar blow that previously kept him out of action for three months.

Despite Villa manager Paul Lambert suggesting that the injury could be serious, it is believed that Bent has been in training and will be available for selection this weekend, according to The Express.

Villa currently sit just one place above the relegation zone in the league table.
