John Terry confirms broken metatarsal

Aston Villa defender John Terry has confirmed that he suffered a broken metatarsal during his side's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon.

Steve Bruce's side fell to their first home league defeat of the season and were hit by more bad news when Terry was forced off after just 21 minutes of the Championship contest.

Terry has now taken to Instagram to confirm his injury, admitting that he is "devastated" by the setback but vowing to return as quickly as possible.

Devastated is an understatement to how I'm feeling tonight, after my CT scan I have just had news that I have broken my 5th metatarsal 😡 I will be doing everything I can to get back fit as soon as possible.

Despite the defeat Villa remain fifth in the Championship table, although they are now seven points adrift of the automatic promotion places.
