Reports suggest that West Ham United are readying a new £60,000-per-week deal for midfielder Mohamed Diame.

West Ham United will make a last-ditch bid to keep midfielder Mohamed Diame by doubling his weekly salary, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has excelled for the Hammers since joining from Wigan Athletic on a free transfer in the summer, attracting interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United, Fulham and Liverpool.

According to Goal.com, the Senegal international has a minimum-release fee set at £3.7m, and Arsene Wenger is keen on triggering that clause in January.

However, the same website reports that West Ham chiefs are seeking to eradicate the release clause by offering Diame a contract worth £60,000-per-week.

The tough-tackling midfielder arrived in the Premier League from Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano in 2009.
