Arsene Wenger expects Jamie Vardy to turn down Arsenal move

Wenger expects Vardy to remain at Leicester

Manager Arsene Wenger has said that he expects Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy to turn down a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have held talks with Vardy after meeting the release clause in his contract, but the England international failed to give Wenger an answer to the offer before he left for Euro 2016.

Reports suggested that Vardy is leaning towards staying at the King Power Stadium and Wenger has acknowledged that he is not expecting a transfer involving the 29-year-old to take place.

Speaking to Chinese television, Wenger said: "Jamie Vardy is, at the moment, at Leicester and from what I know, he will stay at Leicester."

Vardy scored 24 goals in the Premier League last season to help Claudio Ranieri's side win the title by 10 points.
