Sagna: ‘Fabregas wants Barca return’

Bacary Sagna has revealed that Cesc Fabregas wants to return to former club Barcelona.

Captain Fabregas joined Arsenal from Barca in 2003 at the age of 16. He has been linked with a return to Spain for the last three seasons.

Gunners teammate Sagna has now commented that the 24-year-old hopes that a transfer will be accepted.

“Fabregas wants to return to his country of birth, to his city, where his family are. He wants to play for one of the best teams in the world, Barcelona, and that’s understandable,” the defender told French radio station RMC.

“At the moment, however, he is still Arsenal’s captain.”

Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis yesterday said that the close season would “see some turnover of players”.
