Arsenal have reportedly failed to land Olympiacos defender Kostas Manolas after Roma swooped in to clinch his signature.
The Gunners are believed to have been in talks with the defender's representatives as they seek a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who recently joined Barcelona.
According to Goal.com, despite Arsenal's interest, Olympiacos have accepted Roma's £10.3m offer, which is £2m more than the Gunners' bid.
Manager Arsene Wenger is believed to have West Ham United's Winston Reid and Manchester City's Matija Nastasic as alternative options.
