Report: Arsenal edge closer to Sokratis Papastathopoulos deal

Arsenal are edging ever closer to a deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos, according to a report.

The 29-year-old, previously linked with a move to Premier League rivals Manchester United, is understood to be valued at £17.5m by the German club.

Having already made contact with the Greek defender's camp, Kicker suggests that a move is now close to completion.

Sokratis, whose contract at the Westfalenstadion expires in a year's time, has featured 43 times for Dortmund in all competitions this term.

Arsenal have also been tipped to make a move for Freiburg's Caglar Soyuncu in their search for defensive reinforcements.
