Real Madrid keen to lure Robin van Persie away from Arsenal

Real Madrid are considering a bid in excess of £30m for the services of Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, according to Metro.

The Dutchman tried to calm rumours of a departure by stating that he was committed to the Gunners after scoring a brace in the side's 2-1 win over Sunderland last weekend.

Despite his comments, the 28-year-old is believed to be delaying talks with Arsenal over a new contract.

Meanwhile, Gunners defender Thomas Vermaelen has pledged his future to the North London club by signing a new long-term contract.
