Midfielder Mesut Ozil allegedly turned down offers from Asia in the region of £1m per week to extend his stay at Arsenal.

Mesut Ozil allegedly made the decision to turn down offers in the region of £1m per week in order to remain at Arsenal.

Ozil had less than a year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium before deciding to commit his future to the Gunners, but it appears that the playmaker had more lucrative offers elsewhere.

The former Germany international attracted interest from clubs in Asia, and according to the London Evening Standard, the 30-year-old was offered the chance to earn over £50m per year if he was prepared to leave Arsenal.

Agent Dr Erkut Sogut added in an interview with the outlet that there had been "some crazy offers" from Asia, but Ozil was not motivated by money.

The midfielder has just entered his sixth campaign in North London, with four goals and one assist coming from 12 outings in the Premier League and Europa League since the start of August.
