Manchester City are reportedly set to rival Arsenal for the signature of Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo
Since joining the Portuguese giants in 2016, Grimaldo has gone on to make 270 appearances, registering 22 goals and 54 assists.
While he has established himself as an important figure in Benfica's squad, Grimaldo's future with the club appears to be uncertain, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Man City were linked with the 27-year-old in the summer, and according to the Manchester Evening News, they could attempt to negotiate a transfer in January.
The report claims that the Citizens could try to agree a cut-price deal, as Benfica look to avoid losing the Spaniard on a free transfer next summer.
However, Man City could face competition from Arsenal, who are believed to be considering a move, while Newcastle United have also been credited with showing an interest.
