Wolves transfer news: Matheus Cunha stance revealed by Vitor Pereira amid Arsenal, Nottingham Forest links

"I had a conversation with him": Pereira reveals Cunha stance amid transfer talk

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Vitor Pereira has stressed that Matheus Cunha remains committed to the Premier League club.

Cunha has enjoyed a strong campaign with the West Midlands outfit, contributing 10 goals and four assists from his 21 appearances in the top flight.

However, there was criticism for his 'body language' during the 3-1 defeat at Chelsea on Monday night at a time when speculation persists regarding his future.

The likes of Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have each been heavily linked with an approach for the Brazil international before the end of the January transfer window.

With contract discussions said to have stalled between the player and club, a sale appears to be a plausible outcome if at least £60m is put on the table.

'Cunha is not for sale'

Nevertheless, when quizzed on the matter at a press conference ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture against Arsenal, Pereira seemingly ended all possibility of an exit for the versatile attacker.

As per a video from Dan Salisbury-Jones of ITV, who was posting on X, Pereira said: "I had a conversation with him. He is very committed with us, very committed with us. He never asked me to leave the club.

"He wants to help the team. He wants to be with us. He wants to be with us tomorrow to try to win the game."

In a response to a separate question, the Portuguese added: "He is my player and he is not for sale."

Is this the end of the matter?

From Wolves' perspective, they will hope to have sent a message to any club interested in Cunha that a deal will not be agreed during the final 10 days of the transfer window.

Cunha also has the chance to showcase his qualities against one of his alleged suitors in an appearance that may make or break his reputation with Wolves fans who feel that he is already looking elsewhere.

Regardless of what transpires between now and the end of May, though, it appears increasingly likely that a sale could materialise during the summer.

Pereira will hope that the details revealed from the pair's conversation prove to be true as Wolves bid to remain outside of the Premier League relegation zone.
