Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen 'priced out of Premier League return'

Christian Eriksen looks set to stay at Inter Milan as no English teams can match his salary, according to a report.

Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen will reportedly have to accept a massive reduction in wages if he is to return to the Premier League in January.

The Denmark international has struggled to hold down a place in Antonio Conte's side since joining from Tottenham Hotspur at the start of 2020.

Eriksen has been told that he is free to leave next month, with Arsenal and former side Spurs rumoured to be showing an interest.

However, The Telegraph reports that the 28-year-old may be reluctant to leave before the end of the season for financial reasons.

It is claimed that, because of tax breaks for foreign workers in Italy, it will be virtually impossible for any English teams to match his current salary.

Eriksen, who has started only four games in all competitions for Inter this term, is under contract at San Siro until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
