Boca Juniors are reportedly lining up a move for out-of-favour Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The 25-year-old was an instant hit at the Emirates during the 2018-19 campaign under Unai Emery, but he struggled to win over Mikel Arteta and was ultimately loaned out to Atletico Madrid.
Torreira's poor fortunes have not ended there, as he has started just three La Liga matches for Diego Simeone's side this term, and his future beyond the summer remains unclear as his agent has denied the existence of an option-to-buy clause in his Atletico deal.
However, ESPN reports that Boca Juniors are hopeful of bringing Torreira back to South America, where he plied his trade as a youth player for Uruguayan outfit Montevideo Wanderers before moving to Italy in 2013.
Torreira still has more than two years left to run on his existing Gunners deal, but he has previously admitted his admiration for Boca, and the Gunners are thought to be open to offers as they aim to raise funds for their own transfer business.
The former Sampdoria man has scored four goals and assisted six more in 89 appearances for Arsenal since arriving in 2018, and he has been linked with a return to Serie A in the past.
