Arsenal 'to battle Tottenham Hotspur for Max Aarons'

Arsenal 'to battle Spurs for teenager'

Arsenal are reportedly ready to battle Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Norwich City defender Max Aarons.

The 18-year-old only made his senior debut for the Canaries in August but has been an ever-present this season, scoring three times in 21 appearances in all competitions.

Tottenham have recently been linked with a move for the right-back, but according to The Mirror, Arsenal 'plan to match any move' that their bitter rivals make either in January or at the end of the season.

Aarons, who has been capped on four occasions by England's Under-19 team, only signed a new long-term deal with Norwich in October and is contracted to the Canaries until June 2023.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham lost their final matches of 2018, with the former losing 5-1 at Liverpool while the latter suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
