Arsenal priced out of Djene Dakonam deal?

Arsenal will reportedly lose out to Everton in the race to sign Getafe centre-back Djene Dakonam in this summer's transfer window.

The Gunners have been linked with a swoop for the 27-year-old, who enjoyed an impressive season as Getafe finished fifth in Spain's top flight last term.

The Togo international is believed to have a £31m release clause in his current deal, though, and according to The Sun, Arsenal cannot afford to sign the centre-back due to their modest budget this summer.

Having missed out on Champions League qualification for the 2019-20 campaign, the Gunners are only believed to have around £40m to spend on new signings.

Everton could now seemingly have a free run to sign Dakonam, who joined Getafe from Belgian outfit Sint-Truden in the summer of 2017, while Barcelona have also previously been credited with an interest.
