Arsenal and Newcastle United reportedly identify a Bournemouth attacker as a potential alternative to Alexander Isak.

Arsenal and Newcastle United have reportedly identified a Bournemouth attacker as a potential transfer target.

Supporters of the Gunners and Magpies have each been left disappointed after their sides failed to add to their ranks during the winter window.

Mikel Arteta may have plausibly added to his attacking options on the back of a serious knee injury sustained by Gabriel Jesus, yet the Spaniard opted to stick with what he has got.

Meanwhile, Eddie Howe witnessed Newcastle give the green light to exits for Lloyd Kelly and Miguel Almiron without acquiring a replacement for either.

However, despite the frustration in the short term, both clubs will be in a stronger position with regards to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations when the summer market opens.

Isak alternative on the radar?

The future of Alexander Isak is an important topic for both. Newcastle are naturally eager to retain the services of their free-scoring talisman, yet are aware that the Sweden international will generate interest as long as he continues to add to his 48 goals from 74 Premier League appearances.

Arsenal are one of the teams who are monitoring the situation, despite knowing that they may have to break their club transfer record to sign the 25-year-old.

According to The Sun, the two clubs - for different reasons - have started to take an interest in Justin Kluivert.

Bournemouth's main man has allegedly been scouted on five occasions by Newcastle and also been looked at by Gunners chiefs.

Kluivert has emerged as one of the star performers of the season with 11 goals and four assists coming from his 23 Premier League appearances.

That has taken the Netherlands international to 21 strikes and seven assists from his 61 outings in a Cherries shirt having cost just over £10m in 2023.

Although Bournemouth remain in a strong position with regards to his future due to him having a contract until 2028, it is plausible that they stand to make at least three times the profit on the versatile attacker.

More suited to Arsenal?

While Kluivert has history of playing down the middle of the attack, his best performances have come from the number 10 role or down the left.

His versatility would prove more beneficial to a team like Arsenal, with Newcastle requiring a like-for-like replacement for Isak if and when he is sold in the future.
