Long-serving Barcelona player Sergi Roberto is reportedly set to leave the club at the end of the season, amid speculation linking him with Arsenal.

Sergi Roberto is reportedly set to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, amid links with a possible move to Arsenal.

Roberto has spent his entire senior career with the Catalan giants after rising through the youth ranks before making his first-team debut at the age of 18 in November 2010.

The 31-year-old has gone on to make a total of 363 appearances across all competitions during his long association with the Blaugrana.

Despite his emotional attachment to the club, Roberto's future is currently shrouded in uncertainty, with his contract set to expire in June.

The club captain recently admitted that he was "hopeful" of extending his stay after Xavi urged the club to activate the player's one-year extension.

However, the situation has changed significantly in the last few days following Xavi's decision to leave Barcelona in the summer.

According to AS, Roberto is expected to follow Xavi out of the exit door when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The report claims that the Barcelona hierarchy currently have no intention of renewing Roberto's current deal with the club.

Roberto has been on the fringes of the first-team squad this term due to a combination of selection decisions and injury issues.

As a result, he has had to settle for just six starting opportunities in 14 appearances across all competitions this season.

With Barcelona expected to allow Roberto to walk away on a free transfer, Arsenal have emerged as a potential destination for the former Spain international.

The Gunners have reportedly been keeping tabs on Roberto's situation, with his versatility believed to be one of the key factors behind their interest.

Roberto's preferred position appears to be in midfield, but he has plenty of experience operating as a right-back during his Barcelona career.
